Accessibility statement

Our target and current status

This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 at Level AA. We consider it partially conformant today: the structure, navigation, forms and colour system were designed and checked against the guidelines, but photography is still being supplied and a full review with assistive technology has not yet been completed. The limitations we know about are listed below, and this statement will be updated as they are cleared.

What is built into every page

• Skip link and landmarks. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page, and header, navigation, main content and footer are marked as landmarks.
• Keyboard access. Menus, the mobile navigation drawer, photo galleries and forms can be operated with a keyboard alone. Menus close with Escape and return focus to the button that opened them.
• Visible focus. Every link, button and field shows a clear focus ring.
• Headings and reading order. One main heading per page, headings in order, and breadcrumbs on every interior page.
• Text that scales. Type is set in relative units, so your browser’s font-size setting and page zoom are respected, and text reflows at narrow widths without sideways scrolling.
• Colour and contrast. Text and controls are designed to meet the AA contrast minimums, and no information is conveyed by colour alone. The site also adapts to Windows High Contrast and other forced-colour modes.
• Motion. The few animations on the site (a drawn-in plat pattern and a gentle fade as sections come into view) are switched off when your system asks for reduced motion.
• Forms. Every field has a visible label, required fields are marked in text as well as with an asterisk, and success and error messages are announced to screen readers.
• Maps on request. Maps do not load until you ask for one, and each has a descriptive title.
• No autoplay. There are no carousels, no autoplaying video and no background audio.
• Works without JavaScript. Every page reads and every link works with scripts switched off; forms then submit directly to the form service.

Known limitations

• Placeholder images. Until property photographs, portraits and the Equal Housing Opportunity mark are supplied, some image boxes show a labelled placeholder pattern. The placeholders carry empty alternative text because the heading beside each one names the subject; the finished gallery photographs will carry descriptive alternative text.
• Third-party content. After you load a map, the map itself is Google’s embedded frame and follows Google’s accessibility practices. If the form service asks you to complete a spam check, that check is served by the form service. Offering memoranda and flyers we receive from owners and engineers are often untagged PDFs; ask us and we will provide the same information in an accessible format.
• Assistive-technology review. We have tested with a keyboard and browser accessibility tools. Testing with screen readers and in Windows High Contrast has not yet been completed by an independent reviewer.
• Office access. Confirm before launch: step-free entrance, parking and any assistance available at the Daytona Beach office.

Report a problem

If any part of this site is difficult to use, tell us. Send the page address and a short description of what happened, and the assistive technology or browser you were using if you know it. We will fix what we can, and in the meantime we will give you the same information in another form — by email, by phone or in a document — so that an inquiry is never held up by the website.

Technical notes

The site is plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no frameworks, served as static files. It is designed to work in current versions of the major desktop and mobile browsers. Accessibility relies on those technologies being supported by your browser and any assistive technology you use.
